Information for all new degree students accepted through the Open Path

Confirm your study place online in My Studyinfo (www.studyinfo.fi) by 3 May 2024, 15.00 Finnish time. You will lose the study place if you do not confirm the offered study place by the deadline.

You may confirm only one study place for degree studies starting during one academic term (1.8.–31.12. or 1.1.-31.7.) in Universities of Applied Sciences and Universities in Finland.

In order to use My Studyinfo, you need personal online banking codes from a bank in Finland or a Finnish mobile certificate or Finnish electronic ID card. If you are not able to use My Studyinfo, you can confirm the study place using the confirmation link you have received by email.

In case you need a confirmation of the accepted study place, we can send it to you by request.

In case you are not able to confirm your study place online, please contact us for further instructions. See the contact information at the end of this page. You will still need to confirm the study place by the same deadline.

Enrol as present or absent for the academic year by 3 May 2024, 15.00 Finnish time, online in My Studyinfo (www.studyinfo.fi). You will lose your study right if you do not enrol for the academic year by the deadline. If you are not able to enrol online, please use paper forms which you may request from the UAS.

Students must enrol as present or absent for each academic year. According to the Universities of Applied Sciences Act, a student may enrol as absent for the first academic year only due to legal reasons (Act 932/2014):

1. Military service according to the Conscription Act (1438/2007), Non-Military Service Act (1446/2007), or Women's Voluntary Military Service Act (194/1995) in Finland
2. Maternity, paternity or parental leave
3. An illness or injury, which prevents you from beginning the studies

You must prove the legal reason for your absence with documents:

1. Call-up order (palveluksen aloittamismääräys)
2. Kela's certificate regarding maternity, paternity or parental allowance period or, if the certificate has not yet been received, a medical certificate regarding the pregnancy. Corresponding certificates from the authorities of other countries regarding statutory parental leave.
3. Sickness allowance decision or, if no decision exists, a medical certificate. The medical certificate must state which illness or injury you suffer from, and that this condition prevents you from beginning your studies. Obstacles caused by the practical arrangements required by the illness or injury: an adequate clarification, e.g. a certificate from the student housing foundation that you are on the waiting list for an apartment required by your injury. Your own notification is not an adequate clarification.

The documents must be submitted in Finnish, Swedish or English. If the legal reason covers only one academic term of the first academic year, you may still enrol as absent for the whole first academic year.

Documents proving legal reasons for absence must be submitted to Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences, Admission Services in Pasila campus (Ratapihantie 13, 00520 Helsinki). The documents must reach Haaga-Helia UAS by 3 May 2024, at 15.00 Finnish time at the latest. If you choose to send the documents by email, please take data security issues into consideration.

Applicants to Bachelor's degree programmes who have completed the required studies (55 ECTS) as pathway studies from an upper secondary vocational school in Finland must attach a copy of the final certificate of the upper secondary vocational qualification in question to their online application in My Studyinfo by 30 June 2024 at 15.00 Finnish time. The transcript of the Open UAS studies in Haaga-Helia does not need to be attached to the application but the 55 ECTS must be registered in the student register with a passing grade by 30 June 2024.

Applicants accepted to the Bachelor's degree programme in Strategic Hospitality Management need to have the credits required for eligibility (55 ECTS) registered in the student register by 30 June 2024, 15.00 Finnish time. The transcript of the Open UAS studies in Haaga-Helia does not need to be attached to the application but the 55 ECTS must be registered in the student register with a passing grade by 30 June 2024.

Other applicants accepted to Bachelor’s degree programmes do not need to submit a transcript of study records.

Applicants accepted to Master’s degree programmes need to have the credits required for eligibility (30 ECTS) registered in the student register by 30 June 2024, 15.00 Finnish time.  In case you have completed all required credits in Haaga-Helia's Open UAS or in case you have already submitted the transcript of the 30 ECTS during the application period, you do not need to submit an updated transcript of records. In other cases, submit an up-to-date transcript of records by 30 June 2024, 15.00 Finnish time, to Haaga-Helia's Admission Services.

Please note that the admission as degree student is conditional until the Admission Services has checked that the applicant has completed the required 55 ECTS (Bachelor level) / 30 ECTS (Master level).

If the applicant does not provide the required documents by 30 June 2024 at 15.00 Finnish time or if the eligibility requirements are not met by the aforementioned deadline or if the applicant has given inadequate or false information in the application process, the admission will be automatically withdrawn.

• Bachelor's degree programmes: You do not need to show your original school or work documents in the beginning of your studies.
• Master's degree programmes: Prepare to present your original degree and work certificates and their official translations by request at the start of the studies. Contact information at the end of this page.

Students enrolled as absent will show their original certificates when they enrol as present and start their studies. Please note that Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences does not take any responsibility for incomplete or missing documents or other documents, or delays in postal or electronic mail services.

The admission is conditional until the applicant’s degree and work certificates and official translations have been verified by Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences. The University of Applied Sciences will withdraw the admission, if the applicant does not provide the original certificates when requested, or if he/she has given inadequate or false information in the admission process.
