First ever StartUp School Media Night will be focused on the connection of media and entrepreneurship, and the key question - how to make a name for yourself (preferrably in a positive way).

StartUp School Media Night will be held on the evening of September 28 at the event square of Haaga-Helia Pasila Campus.

The event's keynote will be held by top-level Finnish business journalist Elina Lappalainen who will be talking under the headline ”How does media talk about business and how can you get coverage”. Elina is a Business Journalist in HS Visio, the new business & technology section of Helsingin Sanomat newspaper. She has covered startups, venture funding, technology and Finnish growth companies since 2011, previously in Talouselämä and Kauppalehti. Covering those areas has meant doing feature articles about the phenomenon’s and people in the industry, and also investigative journalism and analysis.

She speaks about the news criteria in HS Visio, how to get covered and how to approach media? The interests and motivations for journalism are different from PR: how journalists do their work?

Other activities include a panel discussion on media and business. Food, drinks, music and networking possibilities will be provided as usual.

This event is being organized as a part of the (Re-)StartUp pre-incubator program funded by the City of Helsinki. (Re-)StartUp is a part of the Campus Incubators program.
