Crister Nyberg is the Director of the Haaga-Helia School of Vocational Teacher Education. He holds a doctorate in philosophy.

He has previously worked as Senior Lecturer in Haaga-Helia's guidance counsellor programme and in various positions in educational administration and at different levels of education, from early childhood to adult education. As a teacher, he has focused on various support services and special education. In educational administration, Nyberg's responsibilities have included student support services, guidance and student wellbeing and safety.

Nyberg has done research in the field of theoretical philosophy, in particular the philosophy of language. His research in the philosophy of language has focused on communication in its various forms as well as learning and understanding. Nyberg's doctoral thesis in philosophy dealt with the comprehension of fictions and related abstract objects, as well as linguistic communication and its comprehension.
