Virtual Nature: Digitalisation and expert cooperation for sustainable nature tourism

The aim of the project is to guide and assist tourism operators in producing virtual nature tourism packages for international markets, pilot them with different target groups and find new and potential sales channels for the products. National cooperation between nature tourism operators and expert organisations will also be developed in the project.

Various nature tourism operators from Uusimaa will be involved in the project, and some of them will be matched with counterparts from China and/or Estonia. The target group includes, for example, travel agencies, tourism organisations and various expert organisations linked to them, as well as various operators integrated in nature tourism routes, circular economy and environmental education. The international cooperation will aim at producing virtual nature tourism modules of international interest and increasing the knowledge of the target group through piloting and related studies.

The Digitalisation and expert cooperation for sustainable nature tourism development project is an important part of a national package of three regional projects with the same content. Together with projects planned in other regions, the aim is to develop virtual nature tourism and the associated experience economy using new technologies. Some of the project workshops will be carried out in cooperation, with each project targeting the operators in the funding region. The aim of this cooperation is to share and exploit the new knowledge generated together.
